2021: Record-Breaking Hacking Attacks

A company’s worst nightmare consists of potential malicious threats and breaches to its customer database. Zero-day hacking attacks are done by outside parties by discovering and exploiting vulnerable software malfunction of which a vendor and his development team may not be aware. These parties utilize such software malfunctions as a window to gain access to a business environment. According to multiple reported sources, zero-day attacks have been on a peeked increase within this last year and it has even suggested that numbers of hack attacks have doubled from 2020. Zero-day attacks are costly to operate and commonly run by wealthy and powerful groups which invest large amounts of money into their operations. Although there seems to be a large spike in these attacks, some have also suggested that security measures have improved to help detect these attacks more efficiently in order to reduce the impact on company systems.
